The European Year of Volunteering 2011-Tour opens in Valletta – Day 5

Time flies and the European Tour reached friday. Today’s topic is health, therefore several health group organizations, like Richmond Foundation, Breast Care Support Group – Europa Donna or Ghana Mission Foundation were presenting themselves.

Dr. Klown, an organization that visits kids in hospital, astound the students with tricks while The Health Promotion Unit gave information about sports and health and entertained the kids with sportive activities. Friday night ended with presentations and discussions about different health topics. Dr. Miriam Dalmas, the Ministry of Health, Elderly and the Community, opened the discussion nwith her presentation of National Sexual Health Strategies. Afterwards Mr. Philip Chricop gave a presentation on NGO work. The discussion about the “Voluntary Act – its value” which was also broadcasted on the Education Channel had as its guest Prof. Kenneth Wain, the Commissioner of Voluntary Organizations, and Mr. Mauro Pace Parascandalo, Executive Secretary of the KCVS. The discussion was moderated by Ms Ruthe Castillo from PBS. Again some short films, made in collaboration with The Malta Film Commission and The Malta International TV Short Film Festival, were shown.
